Ambrose Manning papers, 1955-1979.

Papers resulting from Manning's interest in Appalachian literature and folklore and his participation in Appalachian organizations and events. The papers document the early years of the Appalachian Consortium and also include information on the East Tennessee State University folk festival and the Appalachian Girl Scout Council's "Mountain Magic" program. The materials date from 1955 to 1979 and contain correspondence, newsclippings, event programs, meeting agendas and minutes, reports, budgets, and project proposals. Research articles on Appalachian literature and materials from Manning's folklore collection project at East Tennessee State University are also included.
